Frequently asked questions
Storage, requirements, plans, trials, refunds and support: the short answers.
The plugin
Where are field values stored?
In one database table per field group, named {prefix}wpmcf_fg_{group key}, linked to the post, user, term or comment by ID. Nothing is written to post meta.
Do I need to know SQL?
No. Defaults pick the right column types. Column type, length, indexes and generated values are under Advanced settings for those who want them.
What are the requirements?
WordPress 6.6 or newer, PHP 8.1 or newer, and MySQL 8.0 or newer or MariaDB 10.6 or newer. See Requirements.
What happens if I deactivate or delete the plugin?
Deactivating keeps everything. Deleting the plugin also keeps your data unless you turn on “Delete all plugin data on uninstall” in Settings. Posts and pages you created always stay.
Can I switch from ACF?
Yes. Tools › Migrate from ACF copies field groups, options pages, post types, taxonomies and saved values in the background. A report shows what will be copied first, and ACF data is never changed. See Migrating from ACF.
Does it work with page builders?
Dynamic tags for Elementor Pro, Bricks, Divi 4, Breakdance and Oxygen Classic, an Elementor Field widget, and shortcodes in any builder that renders them. Pro adds Elementor widgets for repeaters, galleries, post grids and forms. In the block editor you get a field block and a Block Bindings source.
Can I query posts by field value?
Yes, with wpmcf_query on WP_Query. Columns are real, indexable database columns. See Querying posts.
Does it work on multisite?
Yes. Each site has its own tables and settings. See Multisite.
Does it work with WooCommerce, WPML, Polylang and WPGraphQL?
WooCommerce order fields are in the Pro plans. WPML and Polylang support is in Business and Agency. WPGraphQL fields are read-only and free.
Does it slow my site down?
Values are read from indexed tables, background work runs in batches, and the plugin does not check the schema on every request. We do not publish speed numbers without a benchmark.
WordPress.org
Where do I get the free version?
From WordPress.org. In your dashboard, open Plugins › Add New Plugin, search for Mass Custom Fields, then install and activate it. No license key is needed. See Installation.
Is the free version time-limited?
No. The free plugin has no trial period. Everything you build with it keeps working if you never buy Pro.
Pro and plans
What does Pro add?
Advanced fields, admin columns, front-end forms, data tables, WooCommerce order fields, Elementor widgets, Programmatic SEO, AI content with your own key and conversion of generated pages. Business adds comparison pages, scheduled sync, several data sources per task and multilingual support. See the plans.
Which plans are there?
Pro covers 1 site, Business 5 sites and Agency unlimited sites. Details and checkout: plans.
Which plan do I need for Programmatic SEO?
Pro includes it, up to 5,000 generated pages and 5 tasks. Business raises the limits to 50,000 pages and 50 tasks and adds comparison pages, scheduled sync, several sources per task and multilingual support.
What is Programmatic SEO?
Pages generated from a dataset (a CSV, a Google Sheet, or your posts, terms and WooCommerce products) with one page template. Each page gets its own URL, title and description. See the guide.
Does Programmatic SEO guarantee rankings?
No. We provide the tooling; content quality and search results are up to you and the search engines.
Do I pay extra for AI?
Not to WPMass. You use your own key from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google and pay that provider. The plugin sends the prompt directly from your server to the provider.
Is there a trial?
Yes, 14 days, no card. A site can use the trial once. If you do not buy, the site returns to Free when the trial ends: Pro features stop at once, with no grace period, and your data stays in your database. See Trials, renewals and expiry.
Licensing
Who sells the paid plans?
Pro, Business and Agency are sold and licensed through Freemius, which acts as our reseller and merchant of record. It handles payment, taxes and invoices. The website itself never takes payments.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within 14 days of purchase. See the refund policy.
What happens to my site when my license ends?
Your data stays and the site keeps working. Generation, sync, AI and editing of Pro features pause. Generated pages stay online for 14 days after a paid license expires, then return 404 unless you renew or convert them to posts. A trial that ends has no grace period: Pro features stop at once, so convert pages before the trial ends if you want to keep them. Data tables can be downloaded as CSV. See Trials, renewals and expiry.
What happens if I stay on the free plugin after Pro?
Nothing is changed in your database. Advanced field values keep printing; Pro-only data such as generated pages and data tables stays but is not served or shown until you have a license again.
Support and privacy
How do I get support?
Free users use the plugin's support forum on WordPress.org. Paying customers contact support by email. See the support policy and Talk to us.
Does WPMass see my data?
No. Field values stay in your database. Optional Freemius usage data is shared only if you opt in; licensing checks go through Freemius. See the privacy policy.
Which outside services can the plugin contact?
Map fields (the visitor's browser contacts OpenStreetMap or Google Maps), oEmbed providers, Freemius, and in Pro the AI provider and Google Sheets link you set up. See Privacy and data.
