Divi

With Divi 4 (the Divi theme or the Divi Builder plugin) active, your fields appear in Divi's dynamic content picker. This is free. Divi 5 is not supported yet.
Use a field
- In a Divi module setting that supports dynamic content (a text, a heading, a button link, an image), click the dynamic content (database) icon.
- Choose an entry from the group WPM Fields. Entries are named "Field group › Field".
- For text entries, set the options below. Save the page and check it on the live site.
Each field is offered once for each kind of setting it fits, so the same field can appear in a text list and, if it is a link or image, in the link and image lists:
Kind | Setting it fits | Fields offered |
|---|---|---|
Text | text, headings, any text-type setting | Every field with a value except Password and layout fields |
URL | button and module links | URL, Link, Email, File, Image, Page link, Post object, oEmbed |
Image | image settings | Image and Gallery fields (first image of a Gallery) |
Options of text entries
Option | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Before | empty | Text or simple HTML printed before the value (cleaned like post content). |
After | empty | Text or simple HTML printed after the value. |
Keep field formatting (HTML) | No | No prints the value as escaped plain text. Yes prints the field type's own escaped markup (a Link as a link, a Repeater as a list). |
Before and After are printed only when the field has a value.
What each kind returns
- Text: escaped text (or the field's markup with Keep field formatting).
- URL: the field's URL, escaped as a URL. A Link field gives its address, an Email gives
mailto:. - Image: the full-size image address.
Which post is read
The post Divi passes to its dynamic content (the post being displayed). Options page groups need no post. See Page builders overview for the visibility rules that apply to other posts' values.
Notes
- The entries are internal names such as
wpmcf_text__9a6deab76ce2; the part after the double underscore is a short hash of the field reference, so it never changes unless you rename the group or field key. Entries Divi saved for a field you later rename or delete resolve to an empty value. - Divi's own dynamic content (post title, custom fields) is unaffected.
Troubleshooting
- There is no WPM Fields group. Divi 4 must be active. Divi 5 uses a different dynamic content system that is not supported.
- A module prints nothing. The field is empty on that post, the field was renamed or deleted (the saved entry no longer exists), or the entry kind does not fit the setting.
- I see raw markup or too much HTML. Switch Keep field formatting (HTML) off.
