Mass Custom Fields Pro adds four field types. They are documented in the Pro fields section, Pro fields, columns and builders. This page only tells you what they are and how they behave next to the free types.

How Pro types behave

  • The free plugin does not contain them. In the free build their ids are "unknown" types.
  • They store their values in JSON (Gallery, Flexible content, Clone) or BIGINT (Programmatic SEO page) columns in the same field group table as every other field.
  • None of them can be nested inside a Group or Repeater. Gallery, Flexible content and Clone (JSON columns) cannot be Programmatic SEO data source columns. Gallery, Flexible content and the page picker are not shown in front-end forms.
  • They read with the same functions as free types: wpmcf_get_field(), wpmcf_the_field() and [wpmcf_field] (see Output, formats and escaping).

Without a license, or on the free build

Your data is never deleted or altered:

  • A field of a Pro type stays in the field group definition with all its settings.
  • Its column and its saved values stay in the database untouched.
  • On the edit screen the field is shown as locked: "Your plan does not include this field type, so it cannot be edited. Its saved value is kept." (when the plugin has the code but the plan does not) or "This field type is not available on this site, so it cannot be edited. Its saved value is kept." (when the Pro code is not installed).
  • You cannot add a new field of a Pro type.
  • Existing gallery, flexible content and clone values keep printing on your site where Pro code is present.

The free build never shows locked fields as disabled forms and never contains Pro code.

Troubleshooting

  • A field shows "Your plan does not include this field type". The license is missing or expired. Renew the license; until then the saved value is kept.
  • A field shows "This field type is not available on this site". The site runs the free plugin, or Pro is deactivated. Activate Mass Custom Fields Pro.
