Repeater, gallery and other widgets
5 min read
Besides the free Field widget and the Post grid, a Pro plan adds four more Elementor widgets. All of them live in the WPM Fields category of the Elementor panel, take their data from your field groups, data tables or forms, and are styled with Elementor's own Style tab (see Styling the widgets).
Only Elementor gets these widgets. Other builders get dynamic data only (see Page builders overview).
In the editor a widget with a missing setting shows a short dashed hint such as "Choose a gallery or image field." Visitors never see hints.
Repeater
Lists the rows of a Repeater or Flexible content field as a list, a grid or a table.
Settings (section "Rows")
Control | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Repeater or flexible content field | none | The field whose rows are shown. Hint when empty: "Choose a repeater or flexible content field." |
Show | none | The sub-fields to print, one entry each (up to 30). Hint when empty: "Add the sub-fields to show." |
↳ Sub-field | none | A sub-field of the field chosen above ("Group › Sub-field"). An entry that does not belong to that field is ignored. |
↳ Output | Formatted | Formatted, Plain text, Link or Image. |
↳ Image size | Medium | For Image output. |
↳ HTML tag |
|
|
↳ Label | empty | A label printed before the value (list and grid), or the column heading (table). |
Layout | List | List, Grid or Table. |
Rows to show | 0 |
|
When there are no rows | empty | Text printed when the field has no rows. Empty prints nothing to visitors. |
What it prints
- List and Grid: a
div.wpmcf-c-rows--listor--gridwith onediv.wpmcf-c-rows__rowper row, holding one element per chosen sub-field (data-field="key"). A sub-field with no value in a row is left out of that row. - Table: a
table.wpmcf-c-rows--tablewith a header cell per chosen sub-field (its Label, or the sub-field's label) and a row per row. - A Flexible content row only shows the chosen sub-fields that belong to its layout, and the row carries
data-layout="hero"so you can style layouts differently. - Password sub-fields are never offered or printed.
Field gallery
Shows the images of a Gallery (or an Image) field as a grid, optionally opening in Elementor's lightbox.
Control | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Gallery or image field | none | Hint when empty: "Choose a gallery or image field." |
Image size | Medium | A registered size or Full size. |
Link | Open in lightbox | Open in lightbox, Image file (a plain link to the full image) or None. |
Show captions | Off | Prints the attachment's caption under each image when it has one. |
Images to show | 0 |
|
Each image is a figure.wpmcf-c-gallery__item; the images of one widget form one lightbox slideshow. Attachments that are no longer images are skipped. When the field has no images, editors see "This field has no images here." and visitors see nothing.
Data table list
Shows the rows of a data table (a standalone table you manage under WPM Fields › Data Tables, see Show rows on your site) as a table or as cards. It needs the data tables feature of your plan in addition to the widget feature.
Control | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Data table | none | The table to show. Hint when empty: "Choose a data table." |
Columns | empty | Column keys separated by commas. Empty shows every public column. |
Filter | empty |
|
Order by column |
| A column key. |
Order | Ascending | Ascending or Descending. |
Rows per page | 10 | 1 to 50. The list paginates with numbered links. |
Most rows (0 = all) | 0 | Caps the total number of rows reached through the pages (up to 10,000). |
Layout | Table | Table or Cards. |
Text when empty | empty | Text when the table has no matching rows. Empty prints "Nothing to show yet." |
Only columns marked as public in the data table's settings are ever shown, filtered or ordered by. Messages for people who can edit posts: "This list has no column to show. Mark columns as public under Data Tables › Settings." and, on a site that never had the data tables feature, "Data table lists need a plan that includes data tables." Visitors see nothing in those cases. If the chosen table is deleted the widget behaves as if none was chosen.
Field form
Places a front-end form (post, profile, registration or entry form) created under WPM Fields › Forms (see Forms overview).
Control | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Form | none | The form to show. Inactive forms are listed as "Title (inactive)". Hint when empty: "Choose a form." |
Edit the post this page shows | Off | For forms that edit posts. On: the form edits the post the page shows. Off: the form creates a new post. |
Access rules, spam protection, license messages and success notices all come from the form itself. Administrators see short notes when a form is inactive or the plan does not include forms; visitors see nothing. If the chosen form is deleted the widget behaves as if none was chosen.
Without a license
Widget | After a license expires or on a plan without the feature |
|---|---|
Repeater, Field gallery, Post grid | Placed widgets keep printing. They leave the Elementor panel, so none can be added. |
Field form | Follows the forms policy: visitors see nothing and submissions are refused. See Plans and licensing. |
Data table list | Placed lists keep printing after a license expires. Only a site on the free plugin (or a plan that never had data tables) shows nothing to visitors, and administrators see the hint above. |
Field (free) | Keeps working. |
See License expiry.
Troubleshooting
- The widgets are missing from the panel. Elementor must be 3.5 or newer, and your plan must include page builder widgets. Placed widgets still print without it.
- A Repeater widget prints nothing. The post has no rows, or none of the chosen sub-fields has a value in the rows. Fill When there are no rows to show a message.
- The Data table list is empty for visitors but I see a hint. Mark columns as public and check that your site has (or had) a plan that includes data tables.
