Settings

Open WPM Fields › Settings (also reachable from the gear link in the header, the Settings link under the plugin's name on the Plugins screen, or the Ctrl/⌘ K search). The subtitle reads "Plugin-wide options." Only administrators can open it.
Settings are saved per site. On a multisite network every site has its own (see Multisite).
Tabs
Tab | Who sees it |
|---|---|
General | Everyone |
AI | Pro plans that include AI (shown only with the feature) |
Health | Everyone |
Plan & license | Sites with a license, a running trial or an expired license. Sites without a license see the Pro page instead. |
The active tab is kept in the address (…page=wpmcf-settings#health), so you can bookmark or share a link to it.
General tab
The three cards share one form. Change what you need, then click Save changes at the bottom ("Settings saved." confirms it). Discard changes puts back the last saved values. If you leave the page with unsaved changes, you are asked first.
Data
Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Delete all plugin data on uninstall | Off | When you delete the plugin from the Plugins screen, removes field group tables and their values, post type and taxonomy definitions, Global Data, tasks and settings. Posts and pages you created stay. Deactivating always keeps everything. |
When you switch it on, a warning appears: "Deleting the plugin will permanently erase this data. Deactivating it keeps everything." Details in Uninstalling. Turn it on only when you really want a clean removal, and export your definitions first (WPM Fields › Tools).
Maps
The map service behind Map fields: address search on edit screens and the maps on your site.
Setting | Notes |
|---|---|
Map provider | OpenStreetMap (free, no key) (default) or Google Maps (API key) |
Google Maps API key | Shown only for Google. A browser key with the Maps JavaScript API and Geocoding API enabled. Restrict it to your site in the Google Cloud console: it is visible in the page source. Letters, digits, |
Map ID | Optional, Google only. A Map ID from the Google Cloud console lets maps use Google's current markers; without one they use the classic marker. |
Until a Google key is saved, maps keep using OpenStreetMap, whatever the provider says ("Until a key is saved, maps keep using OpenStreetMap."). When Google is selected and has a key, OpenStreetMap is not contacted at all.
Privacy: OpenStreetMap and Google receive the visitor's or editor's IP address and the area of the map viewed. See Privacy and data. Map fields themselves are documented under Field groups.
Page caches
Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Clear page caches after changes | On | Asks your cache plugin to clear its pages after options pages, Global Data, field groups or generated pages change. This keeps values that appear across your whole site up to date. |
Below the toggle, Detected: lists the supported cache plugins that are active on your site (shown as green badges), or "No supported cache plugin is active." Supported: WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache, WP Fastest Cache, SiteGround Optimizer, Breeze and WP Engine. Nothing happens, and no error appears, if none is installed.
AI tab (Pro)
Where you add your own API key for OpenAI, Anthropic or Google Gemini and set limits for AI content in Programmatic SEO. It only appears if your plan includes AI. Without a key, no request is ever sent to an AI provider. The AI documentation covers it in detail.
Health tab
Errors the plugin caught instead of breaking your site, and integrations it switched off. See Health and troubleshooting.
Plan & license tab
Your plan at a glance, what is included, and what a higher plan adds. See Plans and licensing.
Troubleshooting
Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
Google maps do not show | Check that the key has both APIs enabled and that its referrer restriction matches your site. Until a key is saved the plugin uses OpenStreetMap. |
Save changes is greyed out | Nothing has changed yet. |
Saving fails with an error toast | Reload the page (your login may have expired) and try again. |
Cache plugin not listed | It is not on the supported list. Clear its cache by hand after changes to Global Data or options pages. |
